COMPANIES: HQ Company at Canterbury. Formed from 4th Battalion The Buffs (TA). A Company (Queen's Surreys) at Guildford with Pltns at Kingston and Hounslow. Formed from 3rd Battalion The Queen'sRoyal Surrey Regiment (TA). B Company (Queen's Own Buffs) at Broadstairs. Formed from 5th Battalion The Buffs (TA). C Company (Cinque Ports) at Hastings with Pltn at Eastbourne. Formed from 4th/5th (Cinque Ports) Battalion The RoyalSussex Regiment (TA). D Company (Middlesex) at Hornsey with Pltn at Edgware. Formed from 5th Battalion The Middlesex Regiment (TA). E Company at Tonbridge with Pltns at Maidstone. Formed 1.1.1969. 6.1970 Pltn formed at Crawley from 'B' Company 8th(T) Battalion The Queen's Regiment. 1 April 1971: 'B' Company formed additional platoon at Deal; Edgware platoon 'D' Company transferred to 'A' Company 6th (Volunteer) Battalion; Crawley platoon 'E' Company transferred to 'C' Company 7th (Volunteer) Battalion, new platoon formed at Sevenoaks. 8 October 1973: subtitles omitted, except for 'C' (Cinque Ports) Company. 1 April 1975: 'D' Company at Hornsey transferred as 'B' Company 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion. 'B' Company formed platoon at Folkestone from part 'B' Company 7th (Volunteer) Battalion. 16 May 1988: Kingston platoon 'A' Company transferred to 'D' Company 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion. 9 September 1992: Battalion redesignated 5th (Volunteer) Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment and reduced to three rifle companies: 'E' Company merged into 'B' Company |
